Dimension
Limit: ± 2 mm of the specified width of the foil
Grammage
Take a piece of aluminium foil and cut a perfect square piece of 5 x 5 cm or based on the specimen and weigh. Calculate the GSM
Calculation
Limit: ± 8% of the specified grammage.
Thickness of Aluminium
Dip the piece of aluminium foil already taken for grammage in boiled carbon tetrachloride or toluene and remove the polycoat carefully, and weigh i.e W2 gm.
Determine the thickness of the aluminium using the formula.
Calculation
NOTE: 2.71 is the density of aluminium
Limit: ± 0.005 mm of the specified thickness
Pin Holes
No pinholes should be present
Cleanliness Cheek
Check the cleanliness of plain aluminium strip foil. The test passes if the foils are free from dirty, mutilated, torn or stained and pinholes
