Method of Analysis for Corrugated Shipper

Description
Brown-coloured, 3/5/7 PLY corrugated box/shipper

Dimensions
Measure five shippers /boxes individually, and determine the average height; length, and width.

Limit: ± 10mm of the specified dimensions.

Grammage
Take one shipper cut a perfect square piece of 12 x 12 cm and dip it in a water bath till the Plys are separated. After separating the ply, dry in the oven.
After drying cut a perfect square of 10 x 10 cm size of each ply (Top to innermost ply) and weigh individual ply. Calculate the GSM individually.

Calculation:

Limit: Not less than 150 GSM for each ply.

Bursting Strength
Take one corrugated shipper, Check the bursting strength by the bursting strength tester.
For 3-ply shippers, we can read in 0 to 8.0 kg/cm2 pressure gauge meter.
For 5 & 7 ply shippers, we can read in 0 to 40 kg/cm2 in a pressure gauge meter.

Limit:
  • 3-ply shipper - Not less than 7.0 Kg/cm2
  • 5-ply shipper - Not less than 9.0 Kg/cm2
  • 7-ply shipper - Not less than 14.0Kg/cm2

Flute Strength
Take one corrugated shipper, and cut a perfectly square piece of 10 x 10cm size. Dip them in the water bath till plys are separated. After separating the individual plys, keep them for drying in the oven, after drying iron the individual ply and mark the flute 10x10 cm.

Measure the extended length and calculate the flute percentage.

Calculation:

Limit: Not less than 30%

Weight of Corrugated Shippers
Limit: ±10% of the specified weight.

Cleanliness check
Check the cleanliness of five shippers/boxes individually, the test passes if the shipper is free from dirty and wet conditions.
