Method of Analysis for Cartons (Shipper)

Folding cartons are small to medium-sized cardboard boxes made from paper boards. The paperboard is a cellulose-derived substrate, with a thickness generally greater than 200 mm which is made from virgin and recycled fiber. 
They are used to package a wide range of products because of their ability to satisfy the function of protection and utility.

Text Matter
Compare the text matter of the sample with the approved artwork.

Colour
Check the color of the sample with the approved shade card. The color shade should match the approved shade card.
Acceptance criteria: Shade should be as per the approved shade card.

Pasting
Acceptance criteria: Side-pasting should not open easily.

Dimension
Measure dimensions with calibrated Vernier Caliper.
Acceptance criteria
  • Tolerance for Length : _______ ± 2 mm
  • Tolerance for Breadth : _______ ± 2 mm
  • Tolerance for Height : _______ ± 2 mm

Weight
Weigh the carton on a weighing balance.
Acceptance criteria: _______ ± 2%

Grammage
Cut the sample into 10 cm x 10 cm pieces, weigh it and calculate the Grammage with the following formula,
Acceptance criteria: Not less than 260/296 gsm
